Is anyone else who would like to volunteer to help the people in Haiti with burying the dead and in clean up frustrated?' And just a bit angry? I have gone from web site to web site of various relief organizations to find all the pleas for Haiti are about sending money to aid organizations but none of them want volunteers!!! Money, money, money they are screaming, but please do not offer to volunteer is the repeated message from one organization to the next. What about poor people in America and other countries who do not have money to give, but would like to help in the humanitarian cause of digging out bodies from the ruble and burying the dead? Why are no opportunities being provided to us to do that? Should that not be prioritized now before a massive sanitation-health problems makes all the efforts at raising money for food and water a wasted effort because all the Haitians are going to die anyway if the dead are not buried? The relief agencies have employees they pay with all the money they are soliciting, people who live nice middle class lifestyles all year round. It is great to provide more healthy food and clean water than Haiti has seen since Columbus landed, it is about time the Haitians got some relief on that, but what good will that do with massive sanitation problems when the bodies are not buried? And does anyone else think the benefit concert is sickening? Being entertained to serve other human beings, what a completely backwards idea!!!! Where are all these wealthy celebrities to raise money for Haiti while the Haitians have been starving and eating dirt to survive? (Yes, I read that in the news two years ago, literally eating dirt to survive.) I truly do not understand and it is dis-heartening that people who have no money to give are left without any way to help. And yes, I said prayers. I have prayed for Haiti before the earthquake because of the hunger these people have been facing.... Read More »
